Storm Damage

Our Roofing Repair was more than a simple roof repair. The roof was in poor shape prior to the big storm that hit our home. We were not sure who we should call for our roof had been torn to shreds. Our neighbor recommended that we call a Residential Roofing Contractor who specializes in residential homes.

The next morning, It was evident that a tornado had blown through our neighborhood. The weatherman said a category 3 storm had hit our little town. There was major storm damage to all the roofs within a five mile area. There were many roofs that were completely gone.

The news reported that a few miles away a small town had been hit with golf ball size hail. The insurance companies said the hail damage could run into the millions. There were pictures where the hail was so large that it broke windows and shattered commercial buildings to pieces. This hail was the largest ever to be reported from this area.

The local school district was hit hard as well. the High School is very modern with a natural green roof. Unfortunately, there were many damaged skylights due to the large hail. The skylight leaks were the biggest issue for the Roofing Contractor. The skylights were all special oredred from overseas. It would be 3 weeks before the new skylights would arrive.

We had a tarp placed on our home to stop the water from entering the living room. There was a big chimney leak and the ceiling fell as a result of the water damage. The flashing had been torn from the brick wall line and all the caulking was gone. The Roofing Contractor was very helpful in stopping the leaks. He placed an additional tarp on the chimney wall line. These extra measures protected the inside of our home until the repairs could be made.

The Insurance Adjuster was reluctant to pay for our shed in the backyard. The storm damage was severe and the shed was in need of a new roof after the tornado. The Adjuster agreed that he would pay for the missing shingles on the back side of the shed. This was frustrating for the repairs on the roof would not be restored to original condition. The Roofing Company was gracious enough to replace the whole roof when they installed our roof on the main house.

1st Choice Roofing Company was an excellent choice for they wen the extra mile. The storm damage was tough and the insurance companies were cheap, but our choice to use these guys was refreshing. The storm has been gone for 3 months now, and our new roof looks good as new. Storms may come and go, but a Professional Roofing Contractor will stand the test of time.
